We are recruiting a Careers and Features Journalist to join our editorial team. This is an exciting opportunity to write high quality, research driven articles in careers as well as engaging features, with a focus on rural Ireland, in Irish Country Living.
The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing skills and an ability to analyse detailed subjects. Knowledge of the Irish education system is necessary. A talent for writing compelling features and strong digital experience to tell our stories online is essential. Event management experience would also be a bonus. Self-motivation and output focus is required to lead projects.

As part of the role, you will also be required to assist the editor in the running of our high-quality publication and events, encompassing the ethos of Irish Country Living – to inform, educate and, entertain.

Key Tasks:

- Plan,sourceand producehigh qualityfeaturesacross a range of lifestyle topics including but not limited to:
- Front cover features highlighting the role of individuals living and working in rural Ireland
- Profile pieces
- Food,entertainmentand travel
- Work closely with the editor in planning and managing content.
- Promote wider Irish Country Living content on social media and online through podcasts,videosand other relevant mediums
- Attend meetings of the Irish Country Living team andassistin the development of the section and implement the policies,goalsandobjectivesof same.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Irish Farmers Journal’sdigital strategy, including daily news updates, blogs, socialmediaand multimedia outlook etc,asrequired.
- Promote the interests of the Irish Farmers Journal amongstthepublic through industry events, speakingengagements, media interviews, etc.
- Develop industry contactsin the careers sectorand keep abreast of all developments.
- Ensure that all deadlines are strictly met.
- Work with the editor on managing and running events including the Women & Agriculture conference.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
- A rounded understanding of the Irish education system.
- A rounded understanding of Irish agriculture andthe rural landscape.
- A deep understanding of rural issues and empathy with the needs of dwellers in rural Ireland.
- Excellent writing skills with a creative flair.
- Strong communicationand interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Journalism and editing experience.
- Third level qualification.
Additional Information:
- Be available to travel nationally and internationally.
- Participate in editorial planning and discussions.
- Full clean driving licence.
- If necessary, to work as part of The Agricultural Trust team on any publication and/or carry out other duties as reasonably required by thecompany.
