We are recruiting a Picture Desk Operator to join our photography team. This is an exciting opportunity to kick start your career in an entry-level multimedia role, in which you’ll organise, process and deliver images, video and audio for the company’s titles, both print and digital.  The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in photography or video. Photoshop skills, video and audio editing experience are required.  A multimedia qualification is an advantage, but not essential.

JOB TITLE:              Picture Desk Operator 
DEPARTMENT:      Photography
REPORTING TO:    Picture Editor

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS:
37½ hours per week. Office hours are normally from 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, but may vary by arrangement with the Picture Editor and / or the CEO in accordance with business requirements.


OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Providing a service focused on the prompt delivery of images, video and audio, for current and future Agricultural Trust titles and services.


DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Organise and Process images for the production of Agricultural Trust titles, both print and digital
  • Answering phone and email queries
  • Creating Picture videos and publishing stories through a CMS system.
  • Work with the Multimedia specialist to help with Video and Podcast editing and production
  • Assisting with the storage and back-up of multimedia projects
  • Maintaining the Picture Desk social media accounts; instagram etc
  • Curate and interact with users on both print and digital platforms
  • Assisting with the workflow of the photography department
  • Assisting with the upkeep of the analogue and digital photographic archive
  • Assisting with the upkeep of the PDF archive
  • Booking photographers for assignments
  • Providing additional support to the photography department as required
  • Printing images for customers
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Leaving Certificate
  • Multimedia or equivalent qualification an advantage but not essential
  • A strong interest in a photography or video.
  • Photoshop skills - Retouching, colour correcting, cut-outs etc and advantage.
  • Video editing experience
  • Audio editing experience
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work to agreed deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative to maintain and improve work systems.
OTHER FEATURES OF JOB:
  • Responsibilities are flexible and may be changed and / or added to in accordance with business requirements.
  • The role-holder will be required to work on any project that the Picture Editor, publication Editors and/or the CEO may reasonably delegate at any time and, if necessary, to work as part of The Agricultural team on any publications / tasks as required
